Why you need to clean and seal your sandstone floor?
Sandstone floor has a beautiful sandy desert finish. It provides a magnitude of colours in golds, reds, browns, and tans. Sandstone floor adds a perfect decorative touch to any home or commercial developments. Cleaning and sealing sandstone floor is essential. Being a natural stone floor porous material, it is prone to staining from water and oil borne contaminates. Therefore pre-sealing the stone after they are laid will eliminate potential staining and picture framing issues. Sealing the sandstone will also make grouting much easier as well as release the grout haze during clean up. Once the sandstone floor is cleaned and sealed, it will be easier to clean and maintain.
Consolidating sandstone before clean and seal
Although sandstone is not as robust as granite and slate, it is strong enough to last for many years in residential and commercial applications. If you decided to use sandstone capping in swimming pool, we recommend treating the sandstone with consolidating chemicals prior to laying. This will strengthen the sandstone structure against chlorine and salt attacks. We provide pre-treatment process as well as pre-sealing, cleaning and final cleaning services. Grinding, polishing and levelling to grout-line
We get a lot of enquires about polishing sandstone floor to a higher shine, this will depend on the type of sandstone material. Some stones can be honed or polished to a variety of finishes while other are not suitable. Polishing sandstone floor to a higher shine will close the pores much tighter hence making the floor less porous. For a seamless look of levelling the sandstone to the grout-lines, it can be done depending on the previous installation levelling and type of stone hardness involved.
